From today's 'Herald' newspaper
SportScotland have expressed concerns over the sports facilities East Dunbarton Council have proposed in their PPP schools project.
Particular reference is made to the sale of 'surplus' land when this could be used for sport facilities (see earlier posts).
This is exactly what is happening on the Thomas Muir site were they are now being asked to share sports facilities with TWO neighbouring primary schools.

I think Bishopbriggs have more to complain about as we are having to:
a. Sacrifice a perfectly good and reasonably new sports hall as it is on the BBH site. (THE PREFERRED SITE IN THE PUBLIC CONSULTATION)
b. Share pitches with 2 other Primary schools, one of which is a denominational school whose School Board has not been consulted about the radical plan for a non-denominational secondary school to share its football pitch and yet even although we are having to share facilities, we too are being told that there is surplus land on the site which will be released for housing!
c. Sports Scotland advocate that primary children should play football on a pitch no larger that 7 a side and therefore where does this sit with provision for secondary pupils and will it be of competition standard.
I intend to write to the Herald highlighting these facts.
